Elizabeth Line
Project description:
The 118 km long subway line is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. To relieve London’s Underground, it runs from Reading and Heathrow in the west through new tunnels under central London to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east. A total of 41 stations; 10 of them newly built & 30 modernized. After its ceremonial inauguration with the Queen, London’s newest rail line is expected to carry 200 million passengers a year.
Vossloh’s contribution:
- More than 2,000 fastening systems W 21 (Inclined) for installation in the switches and crossings
- About 140,000 rail fastening systems W 14 for installation in the booted sleepers (high attenuation) and standard track slab sleepers
- 12 newly developed CEN60 switches and crossings
for the tunnel sections on slab track - 20 conventional turnouts, single crossovers and scissors crossovers for the CEN56 section with concrete sleepers and ballast bed
- Removal of mill scale on approx. 14 km track with our milling truck.
